This thread doesn’t really have a point, but I didn’t even know these things existed. I was poking around for another power tool and this thing popped up, Not really sure what they are used for.
It's a cutoff saw for beams. They are slow but hold a line easier than free handing. Similar results can be had with a beam machine but with more power and longer cut depth. Chain morticing can also be done with a gas saw and the proper jigs.
I have seen them used for a particle board with rigid insulation bonded on. Used over corrugated steel roof deck. Can get a pretty nice fit in the valleys. Shingle type finish over.
