If I buy a 20" bar (.050) for my Poulan 306a, will I be able to use my Stihl and Husky 20" .050 /72dl chains on either saw? I see on the Oregon and Windsor sites that the Poulan uses a 70dl chain. Is there a significant difference? Please explain if you would be so kind. I understand pitch and guage and the number of drive links in the circumference of the chain. Is the sprocket different?

Thanks

Sounds like the Stihl/Husky chains will be 2 drive links too long. That is close to 3/4 inch at the bar studs and your Poulan chain adjustment may or may not extend far enough to tighten the chain.

I have always run a 16" on the Poulan, but I guess I'll get a 20" bar and if the chains don't fit, I'll buy a couple that will. I was just hoping to minimize cost and duplication. Thanks for all the advice and I really enjoy reading the posts.
