chainsaw recoil spring help!!

We have a McCulloch Eager Beaver chainsaw. Rope would not retract. Took apart and tighly rewound spring and rope. Put back together. Still does not work. Suggestions? (besides shooting it)

There should be a little bent part at the center of the coil, that little bent thingy catches on the pulley and recoils it back. Make sure the end of your spring isn't broken off. If your spring isn't broken anywhere adjust the position of the bent end and replace the pulley... repeat until you get it retracting reliably.
