Cold in KY this morning!

Got up to a cold house this morning and found that the front porch thermometer read -2 and the back porch thermometer read 4. :jawdrop: I turned on the backup heat (propane central air) for 30 minutes to get the house back up to temp while the wood stove heated up from coals.

Good morning! It is 4 degrees here in west Michigan. Burning very dry Red Oak and coaling nicely. Our outdoor dog, Tianna, is sprawled out, feet twitching in la-la land in front of the stove. It is going to be cold all week and will have to fire up the garage stove. Margaret loves that too because her car is warm in the mornings then. Enjoy the moment...

7 degrees in Southern Illinois this morning. I turned my gas furnace on for awhile also. My insert is doing fine now with good dry oak, no more furnace time today.

don't know what part ky you are but we are in the weatern part and it is 16 here. Thats cold enough

Heat wave here

10 degrees in Greeneville, TN this morning. First time in a while that I got up during the night to throw another log on the fire.

Yeah I usually just get up around 3 or 4 real quick to throw an extra log or two on during the night when it's this cold out.

Keeps the house around 65 (with the damper on low) so it doesn't take long to heat back up

It'd have to be pretty darn cold for me to turn the propane back on

Your Jotul is sitting there ready to give you it's highest return you go and do something like that.

I am all about immediate gratification. The stove was down to coals and would have taken awhile to catch up. I didn't want to be cold in the meantime. So call me a wuss. LOL We were just talking about having another 100gal brought out. We've used about 40 or 50 gallons in the past 2 years on occasions like this and when we're away for whatever reason. Not too shabby compared to the 700gal/yr we used to burn.

It was 6 when I got up this morning. House was 68 when I woke at 6:30am. Loaded the furnace set it for 70 and woke up an hour later at 72. Sure beats pro-pain.

7* here this morning... fire almost burned out... no crawling back in bed at 7am... still trying to warm it back up... brrrrrr

It was 6 degrees here on the North Coast of Kentucky (Ohio River across from Cincinnati).

The house was 67 when I got up and the OWB was down to 122 (It is set at 160-170). I reached a point in my wood pile where I am using those ugly pieces of weird shape wood that were just thrown on top of the stacks - I should have thrown in a few more.

When my heat pump kicked on this morning it woke me up with a "What it that thing running for" thought. Got up, fed the fire, went back to bed and snuggled up to the wife for warmth. Guess I am a wuss too.

Well it is 7* here at 9:00am in my garden spot of Ohio. The old farm house is at 67now so it's not to bad for a drafty old place. Going to eat and then probably go cut a little bit of wood hopefully.
