I am wondering if anyone has built or even seen a wood boiler out of concrete. I am not sure if the concrete could take the heat without cracking, maybe line the firebox with fire brick, or if I could get the heat transfer through the concrete to the water. I am just brainstorming on how to build a relatively inexpensive outdoor boiler. Any ideas?

You might be able to use it to help insulate the water jacket. I don't think it work good though. The heat would crack it. Even with no heat it will still crack every time.

What you need is to look for refractory brick or the mix for refractory cement, you wont be able to wrap a steel jacket with cement unless it's mix is meant for high heat and you use lots of rebar.
