Nice one Art! Got any more pics? There's some mighty big cottonwood around, especially down your way. Not sure I've seen any over 140 feet though...and 6-7 feet at the butt.

Think this tree died 'cause it got too tall pluse the 10 ac just uphill to the north had 62 houses built on it which cut down on water. Looked for record B.cottonwood height and web said 158 ft. This one measured out at 162 ft with transit last year and about 20ft broke off this winter Tall but only 42 or so inches in dia. Spent 1/2 hour making sure of square cut with square and laser to be sure to hit the old dodge dead center. Felled it with a 20 inch bar only. Was only about 70 YO (area logged in 1917, some 10 ft dia fir stumps nearby.
