Cylinder broken fin repair

I have this cylinder with a broken top fin and was debating trying to fix it or just leave it alone .
Id brother not bother fixing if it was a lower fin but being the top fin with the grommet may need some attention.
What's everyones thoughts and any good repair tips ?
I was looking at some brazing aluminum rods or possibly taking to a welder and have it repaired.
I do had access to a very good welder at work that may be able to fix this for me .

It is Likely magnesium so take care to not let oxygen around the weld ... If it starts tt burn you won't get it put out. May burn the place down. Some one with more experience might chip in with more information.

I was reading that the cylinders are an aluminum alloy but I could be wrong .

It’s aluminum, not mag. Anyone who can tig aluminum will be able to fix it

what does a magnesium casting consist of? Expand your reading parameter. I hesitate to say too much if I am not positive.

The cases are magnesium, but that’s about it. Cylinders are all aluminum currently that I’m aware of

I would run it as is. Ive run several of them with more broke fins than that.

I have a couple of 2186 cylinders to weld the fins back on for the rubber grommet to snap into. MAYBE SOMEDAY..

Took it to my local welding shop. They had it done in 10 min and it cost me $20! I skipped all the way home!
