Hey fellas.

What do you reckon of this cylinder? It's from a makita concrete saw. New cylinder is $$$$ for this model so I was thinking this one could be cleaned up?

Is that aluminium transfer on the walls or is it just scored cylinder ?

I was thinking a bit of wet n dry to clean it up and a new piston and decent ring ?

Whaddaya reckon ?

It doesn't look bad, but you never know what you have until you start. You need to use acid to dissolve transfer and as it stops bubbling, hit it with the W/D to expose fresh aluminum.

:agree2: It doesn't look bad at all. What does the piston look like?
Looks like you caught it early...clean the cylinder and piston up and put a new set of rings, or maybe new piston and rings.
Either way looks like you should be able to fix reasonably cheap.

Piece of cake! Just some patience. Don't get in a hurry. It's worth a new piston too. A meteor is what 40 bucks. 10 just for rings.

The ring was melted in and piston is pretty much wrecked. Pic when I get home tonight.

Thanks for the replies guys
