My red oak tree on the West side of the house is showing stress on the lower leaves only. The leaves are brown around the edges and drying up. This is only taking place on the lower branches. We have had two opinions on the problem. One person said it needs iron and wants to charge us for a treatment. The other says the browning is caused from our sprinkler system hitting the lower leaves and scorching in the West Texas heat. Their suggestion was to trim the tree higher and adjust the sprinklers. I must also add that this same problem is also starting to appear on a nearby desert willow. Any suggestions as to which one of these opinions might be correct or neither of them? Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
