I'm trying to find information in reference to a condition that impacts trees in the Southern California area known as "Summer Drop Syndrome". I would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you,

There was an article in the September issue of Tree Care Industry magazine called, "California Oak Disease Spreads". I can't find my issue right now, but here is a link to NAA. Look under Publications - Archived Articles.

Ithink what you are looking for is summer limb drop. I read somewhere that California is gathering data on this.

Here is a search i did. There were a few good hits. http://search.dogpile.com/texis/search?q="limb+drop"&geo=no&fs=web

Most are at The Knothole web board.

The best postulation I've heard is that it is drought related. The ray cells cannot hold the fibers together even though there is enough water to keep the leaves from wilting. No hard data about it so I would not call it a thoery yet, maybe a Scientific Wild Assed Guess (SWAG)
