Growing up as a kid, my grandmother had an apple tree that produced small, tart apples. Great for applesauce!

She called it an "Early June". I have also heard "Early Harvest".

I cannot find these types anywhere. Any ideas?

Also, If i find them, when is the best time to plant apple trees?

Best time to palnt apples is early spring, I'm told.

Many cultivars and varieties are synonymous.

We have an occasional member located at www.applejournal.com, go there for your best chance of finding a similar cultivar and tell them we sent'cha.
