? Easiest way to test Compression Release Valve for leak

There must be 2-3 good ways to test one. Curious what others do.

My approach is to adapt a regular air line and connect it to the male threads of the valve. I then put 100 psi of air pressure on the air line and you should know instantly if you have a leak.
 
Pressurize the cylinder with the compression release still installed. Spray a little soapy water on the CR and there's your answer. You'll then also know if the rest of your saw is in good shape, leaks-wise.
 
Is the saw in running condition? If so, couldn't a guy just run the saw an spray a bit of soapy water on the compression release valve. Should be pretty obvious from there.
