A word of encouagement to all you budding innovators/entrprenuers in the arborist community. About two years ago I introduced (through this website) an innovative tool called the Sidekick desighned to aid in the precise placement and retrieval of ropes while aloft in a tree. Overall--- the reception was 'chilly' and 'derisive' with only a few open minded individuals actually investigating enough to realise the inherent usefullness of this tool.
Today I am happy to report that the tool is now featured in both the Wesspur and Bailey's tree supply catalogs. Sales have been increasing month to month. The lesson for all you innovative types out there is simply to expect and shrug off initial critisism (there will be plenty)-- and just keep going and going. When your product is recognised by the major catalog supply houses as having noteworthy utility the boost to ones self-esteem is terrific so keep up the good work. This is one industry that really needs continuing safety/efficientcy input.
