First fire 2022-23 heating season thread

Longtime member here, not often contributor. But I always have to chime in for the first fire to heat the house of the season!

First fire tonight with youngest son lighting. Not a pretty fireplace pic but just another year of auxiliary heating the house with some wood. With rising heating costs I’m putting my sons to work more. Lol

For me it’s been a hobby/exercise for 10+ years in winter time to keep wife happy with warm house. Now I’m taking my boys away from “screens” and getting some quality time in!

Man, we lit our first one back at the end of September. It hasn’t gone out since around the 1st of October, other then maybe in the middle of the day we will let it burn down if it’s warm our.

I lit my first fire in the fireplace insert a few weeks ago. I did light the first fire in the blaze king today as it’s supposed to be cold at least all week. With the insert I need to get up once or twice to feed it so it’s not dead when I get up at 530.the blaze king only gets two meals a day and the house is perfectly heated.

I've had my stove running off and on again for about a month now. Nice having the stove going while there is snow in the ground outside.

Started a little late this year as I had chimney problems.but all is well now.
