Wish I could do that. Put a hoop handle on it to turn it into an Easter basket. Would make great presents.

Amazing what a person can do with the right tools - and a lot of talent.

How did you glue the pieces together? In the basic shape of a bowl and then whittle down?

Different material and tools, but reminds me a little of patchwork quilting.

Thank you for your kind comments, it is mostly just having the correct tools and beautiful wood as the canvas! I have a jig for my table saw that cuts the segments at a very precise angle for gluing up the rings that form the bowl sides. Then it is just a matter of turning it round on a lathe, sanding and an oil rubbed finish.

Very nice! Do you ever use super glue to stabilize/harden some of the punky sections? Works well for me and reduces the amount of finish the wood soaks up.
