Hi,

We have some Oak woodland and we have found the fungi shown in the images on logs that we have cut and left on the ground to air dry.

Can anyone tell me what fungi it is please?

I initially suspected Honey Fungus, but pretty sure it is not.

Many thanks

One of two possible saprophytes -
either Trametes versicolor#or Cerrena#unicolor#

just a wild guess.

On firewood, it presents no problem. Usually seen on dead or dying wood in the tree canopy. Good pruning practices removes the problem.
