I have a Globe Willow which stands about 25 feet tall and has two main shoots which are now forming a crack between the two of them. The crack runs down into the 10" trunk for about a foot.
I tied the tree off at main split to prevent it from going further or completely seperating. Is there anything I can do to fix this. Will tying it help it to seal up again.

Sometimes this is natural and not a problem, ther times the poor union will cause on side to fail.

Tieing will eventualy choke the vascular tissue and cause long term ptoblems.

Could you post a digi-pic of the union so we can comment on it better?

Treaded rod can be used to hold these splits together, but willow does not hold decay well and the drilling may solve the porblem for a while, but caause others in the future.

a 25 ft tree may be able to survive for a while longer with just synthetic cables in the crown.
