Gnarled up Oldtimers

Thought some of you that dont have hedge in your area would like to see some old ones. These old boys are about half way up on a river bluff overlooking the Illinois river south of Beardstown, IL. Very poor soil where they are. I would guess they are at least 80 years old.

I have seen bigger ones on better soil, but these are pretty big for being on "groundhog dirt".

I am subcontracted to a bigger forestry outfit for this job. We are clear cutting the red cedars off a bluff pasture, but these ole boys get to stay . Many a cow has enjoyed the shade under these Old Timers!

Nice ones! This reminds me I have a monkey brain I got last fall I need to deal with, plant it, all the seeds, somehow.
