Control: Do you ca prefer herbicide over pruning
or combination of the methods to keep it in bounds?
I have a nasty case of it to work on it is all over
this customers house trees yard etc. My plan of
attack is to prune it off the trees and spray roundup
on the remaining in the critical areas! I will be doing this
work for next to nothing but in the area it will be like
free advertisement and he is a recurring customer
with a lot of local contacts to send my way!
I sort of plan to use this yard to promote a new
way of trimming, as I have already removed some die back
and cleaned up weak attachments in this yard!
In this area many neighbors are asking why his tree man
did not top his trees like theirs! I have gave him pamplets
to hand to them to answer those type questions!
Any of you take on pet projects for less than the going
rate to show quality instead of the norm in areas?

If it will come loose, I, or workers, will pull it loose, then use picks to pry it from the ground as long as it has not become a foot thick mat.

If the soil is at least moist, it's not rediculous to manually remove, but certainly not easy.

Then, if a lot of fragments sprout later on, I'll spray those.

If the ivy can't be removed, then I'll spray the ground area.

It has reached maturity leaf and growth wise! It is probably
the worst case I have seen over a foot thick mat even on
the trees! His house is covered as well! It will take many
visits to correct this jungle that has been left to thrive
over many decades! I plan to get all off I can manual
first and return to spray shoots!

In situations where pulling it up wasnt economical, we would burn it back with brushcutters and then spray it with glyphosate(Unless it was growing up trees of course). After all that, it won't completely get rid of it, but makes it much easier to manage in the years to come, as long as you don't allow it to grow out of control again of course.
