I live on Ohio and have a Maple tree, I've noticed this year that the bark is peeling or missing in a few spots... It's really a majestic tree with a nice shape, and besides that bark, it seems like it's doing well... I have no idea if this is normal and just a cycle that maples go thru or not. I saw a hole in the bark, and some bugs on it, which I have now identified as baby stinkbugs, so I guess the bugs were no big deal. I've attached some pics... Thanks all !

Old trunk wounds, most likely mechanical damage being a street tree. Gently pull away loose bark, maintain proper tree health and it might out live us all.
Thabks...So, it appears after closer look that the second photo is the only troublesome spot as the the first photo has bark regrouping.. so I pulled the old bark away until I met bark that was good and solid on tree. Is there anything else i can do to this spot to assist? Is there anything I can do to tree to help it it focus it's energy on this spot? Thanks!!
