i have never seen "spinners" or "helicopters" on them (the fruit or seeds)

plenty of maples around here with them.... especially the huge one over my house and front porch (very messy)

is it possible for these trees not to have them?

"Round here, Box Elder begins dropping its seeds in late autumn (usually after the Sugar Maple) and throughout the winter... it's not uncommon to see thousands of seeds laying on top of crusted-over snow. On warmer days the seeds draw heat from the sun and melt down into the snow leaving the wings sticking out.
