Well, I am damn proud of myself, I rebuilt the old Homelite Zip's carb and it runs better than I could have dreamed! It idles far better than a forty year old saw should. Thanks for the tips. Now I fear it has a weak clutch but that is a project for another day. One more question--The spring that returns the throttle to idle after holding the throttle open is weak and you have to manually pull the throttle back with your finger to return the saw to idle. Any ideas on where to get a spring or how to fix this short of a rubber band?

what i would do is go down to your hardware store and get a tension spring and form it to the point where it will fit and return the throttle.

Some auto parts stores have a vast collection of return springs. I'd look for one with the same outer diameter and same guage steel, then cut and bend the ends to size.
