Well i got the old blue xl-12 working again! Pretty stoked honestly. Thing hadn't ran in who knows how many years. I don't know if it was me beating the flywheel or me cleaning the points, but after i put it back together, three pulls and she ran like a champ.

Good day all. Been cutting and stacking the last few weeks getting ready for winter.
Using all of my Homelites without a glitch, but.
Anyway my ole Blue Super XLA cut and runs great. When it idles for longer than a minuted or so it sounds like something rattling in the clutch area then stalls. Also the chain no matter how low the idle spins 80% of the time.
Any ideas before I rip it apart, which is pretty easy.

As the guys said above and sometimes so much oily crud builds up in the clutch drum it will cause the clutch to drag

I picked up a homelite c72 and a incomplete parts saw. The rear handle is bent and the fuel in is ran externally. How hard is it to change the rear handle and how hard is it to run the fuel line the correct way. I won’t do anything for a while but I want to know. Thanks

Picked up my first EZ, but my 6th Homelite (they're getting addicting!). Had it running in less than 10 minutes, so far the only thing I see missing is the oil pump button. The chain needs some ttentio. Since I have 2 SXLA with 20" bars and 2 with 16" bars this will become my limb saw with a 14" bar.

Looking for a 775-G crank. Homelite PN 58890 (listed in the manual as A-58890-B.) Seems to be unique to the 775-G. The direct-drive IPL calls out for a different number.

Anyone know where I can find an as-close-to-NOS-as-possible 58890 crank?

Does anyone know of electric saw that operate on 220v ac or 115v dc current so there is a way to use my Homelite 3000.IMG_20171013_134615.jpg Max combined draw is stated as 3000 watts. Never knew these existed till this showed up at farm auction nine days ago.:surprised3: Have not put a rope on it yet as I will need to make a handle for one end and an appropriate knot on the other. We are talking old style starting:yes:
Any owners manuals or shop manuals out there?
Thanks

I happen to know of someone who has a big azz electric chainsaw. They were used off the backs of dozers in the PNW.

What's the model number on the tag? May have a manual

Most corded drills and circular saws would run on DC, check the label. They are called "universal motors". Ideally 90Vdc would be just right but the gen could be slowed down a smidge to get that. Don't plug in anything with a transformer, it will smoke pretty fast. Some of those AC units were higher than 60 cycles (Hz) and will not properly operate 60 cycle stuff.
