That was my reason for for the positioning of the deflector I tucked it in behind the orange flap on the side of the saw as much as I could it's a pretty tight fit in there hoping that would cut down on vibration a bit

Might work for you but not so well for me. I bought a 288xp with the deflector broke off. It melted everything above it. Yours isnt much different than having nothing. I brazed a piece on mine to deflect more heat forward. I cut up and old Stihl muffler that was not repairable...HeHe! and it went on the Husky. I think you might have a problem if you run the saw all day, maybe not.
