Hey fellas, the other day i saw a unique bar on ebay....just wondering what it was used for. I don't have a pic so i'll try to describe it best i can. It looked like a big teardrop coming from the saw, the chain went around the outside and the center of the bar was see thru. just the chain groove was the only part there. what were these bars called and what application were they used in??

It's a bow bar. Used for bucking up logs, you cut with the large tip and the hollow center prevents binding. Some folks love' em, others hate 'em. They still make them, too. Dangerous if used carelessly or without all the guards in place.

Not me, but here's a couple pics:

Thanks for the pics

I have used them for brushing and limbing and don't think I would use one like that. My definition of log may be larger than yours:D

That looks like pulp and slash pine
