Ok, I know this is the age old question. How Long does it take to season firewood ? and is it the same time if it is split, than if not split. I have been told its 4 months. If it is split. Also should I waste my money on a moisture meter and do they work? OK I know that was alot of questions but I need to know. Thanks
Eric

Well it depends on a lot of things; split wood dries faster than unsplit wood so that we can discuss. What species of wood are we talking about? Some dry faster than others. I see that you're in New Jersey so your drying situation is probably similiar to mine here in PA. If you don't have it split and stacked in the wind and sun (or garage/ woodshed) you'd better get a move on because you're lookin' at about 4 months until you probably will start burning. Good luck! :greenchainsaw:
