Thanks all for the filing tip. The more I read about this, the more its obvious to me that this type of chain needs much more care than the crappy type of chain I'm used to on cheaper saws.

Also, the carburator was not adjusted from the rich factory spec for break in. It was running super rich. Still working on the tuning but the saw gained some top end power/torque it needed to keep the chain moving under load.
 
Stick with it, you'll get it figured out. A saw isn't designed to run until the chain is so dull it wont cut any longer. That is very rough on the saw. I sharpen mine with a file about every 3-4 tanks, or when I can feel is slowing down.
 
I think fish is onto something, sharpen the chain when you feel its not cutting as fast. You may be cutting really clean wood and not have to sharpen for a few tanks or really dirty stuff and sharpen even before your tank is empty.
