Husqvarna 350 comparison video with cut times!

Bump.

Has anyone actually measured the case capacity of the 340/345/350 versus the metal case 346/351/353? Curious if there will be a difference in performance of a 346 versus a 350 with a 346 top end.

I'll say that I don't think there is much difference in performance. ...metal case vs plastic ....that's the biggest call

Have you guys heard of any case failure from a higher compression/ported top end on a 345/350 case?

Just came across this thread.
So the long and short of it is:

- Quality AM 45mm Closed Port Cylinders with flat top pistons, basic porting, and muffler mods are running with stock 346xp's?

That is impressive.

So unless you really want to push the limits to the extreme needing a 346xp cylinder, there are lots of gains to be had with the cheaper 350/353 cylinders, even AM ones.

Loving my @MillerModSaws 345 with ported 346 top end. I need to fashion one of those kickstands for it like Brad had shown several years ago so it doesn’t tip over.

I believe the AM cylinders in question here were AM 346 clones (other than some being 45mm rather than 44.3), not 350/353 clones.

Are the 340/345/350 and 346/351/351 oilers externally identical? IOW can you bolt up the adjustable pro saw oiler to the clamshell case of the 350 family?

Hi Steve.
They used the same oil pump on 350, 346, 351 and 353. Be aware that Husky updated the pump for the better on their NE.
The other thing you need to pay attention for is that 350 had a unique worm gear.
If your thinking to update a 340/345 all you need is to remove the pin in the crankcase, install a 350/346 pump and a 350 worm gear.
Also, if you somehow need a higher flow then what a 350 can deliver, a 357/359 pump is a bolt on.

I think the 340 had a non adj pump but other than that the 350 346 455 rancher pumps are the same in thought.

Hi Matt,
The only difference from a 346/350 pump to a 357/359 pump is the pump piston. If my memory is correct the piston is cut in a different angle so the pump will pump more oil pr rotation, otherwise it’s the same pump piston.
340/345 had a non adjustable pump, the pump piston is secured by a pin, removing the pin and the crankcase is transformed to become a 350 crankcase.
