I bought a 44 from a Craigslist ad years ago. The seller said it wouldn't run. I cleared the tank vent obstruction and it became one of my go-to firewood saws. It has the best power to weight ratio of the saws I have and it is very easy to repair. The problem with it is parts availability.

They Punch Higher than their Weight!!! I Just Love Em. But may have to aquire a couple parts saws to support my runner.

i have at workshop an 444 cylinder to offer. if anyone interested.

and at home-workshop may be an 44 one, if i get time on this weekend to seek trough pile of sawparts.

If, i remember correctly, main difference was the piston and cylinders (crankshaft. etc should be interchangeable)
Husky 44 is open port saw 42mm diameter
Husky 444 is a closed port saw 42mm diameter.

Thank you for the ipl links!!! How much for 444 cylinder? I might give it a try.

A 444 jug is a bolt on a 44 case, those two cases is 100% the same.
You can use a 444 piston in a 44 jug, but you can't use a 44 slug in a 444 jug.
There is a shop in Germany who get an NOS 444 piston in return due they sold it to me as a 238 piston.
The same shop also have a NOS 44 piston, but they may have mixed it up with the 238 slug.
