Leyland Cypress Disease Control?

My leyland cypress trees appear to have some sort of disease. I am not sure what disease it is and how to go about trying to save them. These pictures are from the worse effected tree and go all the way up its trunk. For the most part the browning is from the inside out but some of the tips of the needles having browning.

They have not been getting much water lately as California is in a pretty bad drought.

Any info would be appreciated.

The tips look normal, possible cones or new buds. These plants do get a canker, the canker infested trees that I have seen look more like this...

Your tree shows more of a drought stress symptom with interior browning.
Is it possible that the worst looking tree gets less water than the others?

They haven't been getting much water as of late, so possible drought damage? I thought they didn't look like the canker pics either, just browning near the trunk.
