Or really, how do you figure board feet?
Mill I use uses doyle.
I have a w. cherry log I'm considering taking in, straight as an arrow and no limbs until it forks 26ft up. big end 30" small end 26", 24' long. Plus 50' more of straight top in 3 leads that measure 18B, 12 sm ends.
Want to figure out if its worth the time.
mill paying 1.5 per, and more if it'll veneer.

Thanks guys!
I get about 1175 board feet total, or close either way.
I guess at $1.50 per board foot it's well worth loading it!

So a BF is 144 cubic inches, but there's some variation between hardwood and softwood.

Sure is a wierd language to me, we just talk volume or dimensions of the log.

board feet of sawn lumber is : length(in feet)x width (inches) x thickness divided by 12 ex:2x4x8=5.3bdf

How many BF did ya end up with?

I left the papers in the truck, but its right at 980ish. Always a difference betweeen my yardstick and their ruler! Overal, still good enough for the trouble, as I'm not equipped to deal with saw logs. More along the lines of chips and firewood.
