Scott ended up putting a new piston & cylinder on it, Now it cuts great.

Hard to tell what was wrong with the conversion kit I got from Baileys. Might have been a problem with the ring, Scott mentioned it was not a uniform thickness.

The real problem was hard to determine as I managed to score the cylinder during my last assembly attempt. (Wasn't scored when I oiled everything up, was scored when Scott opened it up) No idea how that happened.

Baileys took it back with no issues.

Yay!

Another happy saw addict. Have fun with your 7900, it's a great saw. Considering that Baileys took your P&C kit back, you're not out much.

the ring gap should line up in the center of the intake port, with the little pin to hold it in place.

what i do is use my right thumb and index finger, reach in where the muffler normally is, and squeeze the rings together.

then i use my left hand to wiggle the jug down onto the piston.

if you get it right, it just slides down on nice and easy.

i'm betting you cocked the ring, and took the end of the ring off.

this and getting the circlip into the wristpin to me are the two most critical steps.
