Does anyone have a trick for getting the steel float rod to seat well against the brass seat? My steel float rod had ridges on it (where it seats against the brass seat), and i sanded them out using a drill and fine paper. Darn thing still wont seat, it leaks fuel at the rate of a constant drip.

Im about as patient as it gets...but im ready to try to fix it with a hammer. Or....better yet machine an adapter for a tillotson AJ series carb.

put some valve grinding compound on it and spin it. even comet will do. put a piece of tubing on it and roll between your palms.
