Mc Dolmars

Gday fellas well your help is needed in iding thse two saws a PM4300 and a PM5200.

What model Dolmars are they ?

They were released onto the Australian market in the early 80's

The PM4300 would be equal to a Dolmar 109 & the PM5200 would be a Dolmar 111.

By checking against Mike Acres site the two saws you mentioned are different in appearance to both the 4300 and the 5200 these are more like the Dolmar 115 below.

The 109, 110, 111, and 115 are all built on the same chassis, and parts interchange between them. 109 and 110 are 43cc, the 110 being the closed port high rever and the 111 115 are the same cc, but the 115 takes the cake with its closed cylinder also.

I don't know the mac crossover model numbers, but i can say from owning a 109, 110, 115 and a 111 parts saw. You yellow macs are one of them.

There were a couple differant variations, as the earlier models had a single post chainbrake handle (kinda looked like a flag) but that was on the mid 80's models(85-86). I think by 88 or 89 they went to a more rigid two post handle. the 115 pictured above is one of the early models with single post chainbrake handles. To the best of my knowledge, they made all 4 models in that time period. i have owned a 110, 111, and 115 that all had the old style chainbrake handle. The newer Makita 5200 and the dolmar 520's are built on the same chassis with the newer handle I am talking about.

Although i sold a few Dolmars when i was a Dealer it wasn't many and although a good saw never sold in any quanity in our area i specialised in Mac's.

I feel that the two saws in mention may have been an Australian only release but then i could be wrong.

The newer chainbrake handle...like on this Makita 520i.
I like the looks of the saws with the older handle but I suppose that this version is a functional improvement.
