I must of tweaked something while cleaning the disassembled carb. With the metering levers hold down screw snug the levers total travel just barely allows the fork end to touch the underside of the needles head. It may lift the needle but only a miniscule amount. I can only find generic metering lever adjustments info. No name on the carb other than the raised, cast letters MDC followed by a stamped number 9.

Fall of '19 I bought a Stihl 044 that wouldn't run worth a hoot. Found the same thing - no needle lift.

Didn't find this until right after posting of course, a reference to the lever being flush with the metering cavitys gasket surface. And that it is a Walbro. After some tinkering, applied a bit of compressed air to the passage leading to the metering needles seat to mimic fuel flow and found there is more movement of the needle than first appears. Still ain't much.
