More free heat from an OWB

I took the vent pipe off of the gas water heater and installer a cap where it went into the chimney. Now that 140 to 150 deg. F air is heating the laundry room and not going out the chimney. Note- the gas has been turned of to the water heater since late September.

I leave my water heater on low just so the temp in my tank doesnt get too low and then I would have to wait for 40 gallons of water to go through my sink to get real hot water.

I get free heat from mine too though, my plate exchanger sits right on top of my water heater and between that and my furnace pipes the utility room stays about 80 degrees if the door is closed.
