Ms660 with a 74" bar?

No way. That saw won't have the power or oiling abilities for that bar.

I think that an 880 would easily do the trick. But, I would also recommend it have a trip to Brad for some work before it is put to work.

we used a 660 with a 72" for flush cutting massive cedar burls. it was painful but it was all we had at the time lol

My 880 doesnt really do well with even thr 42 and 48 inch bars as far as oiling.
Send it to Brad. It will return a very different saw.
I ran mine with a STIHL 47 inch bar and full comp chain in the oak here in Texas and had no issues.

Forgive my ignorance--are there replacement oil pumps that offer higher output? Is that a thing?

I dont think so?but some you can modify the screw on it or something for higher output. Recently saw a thread on that.
Yes there are. Or, you can replace just the pump piston and control bolt in your existing pump. It's the 044/440 that doen't offer a HO oiler.

It's not hard to build a 660 to pull that length. It sure ain't doing it in stock form.
I recently did a 660 build to pull a 42" and it destroys a stock 880. I'm very confident it would pull a 74" bar.

I think the 660 could pull a 74" and if you went with ground skip chain would help it out too. My uncle bought my ole man's 066 he bought new for falling 28 years ago, never been apart for anything and my uncle runs a 48" on it religiously and a 36" on his 064 he bought new at the same time for a falling saw. Both pull chisel skip chain ground square on a silvey pro sharp. Never ran the 064 but the 066 mag is a straight beast for a bone stock work saw. Always has run like turpentined dog. IMO the 660 could do what the add states then 84 and double snowman (088/880)

Imagining doing it is one thing.. when you get a saw good and woke up it can surprise you.
