I bought a used 066 and it seemed to be a pretty good saw. It took couple carb adjustments, but then ran strong. After about the first cord, it started running lean at the high end. I adjusted the HS needle, but couldnt get it to richen. It ran worse and worse as I tried to adjust it.

When I got it home and tore it apart, I found only three screws holding the jug on and they were all loose. The jug has at least 2 mm of play in it. I don't know how it ran.... I took the muffler off and plug out and cant see any scratches or damage. Is it OK just to torque the jug back on and keep running or is there something else I should check/do?

Thanks,

Jim

Likewise, I'd say tighten it down and run it. The two times I've experienced this, a loose barrel will leak so much air that the saw can't possibly run long enough to seize or cause mechanical damage from banging around. I think you'll be fine.
