Mystery 2nd Gas Line in Mc Tank

Does anyone have an idea what the second rubber hose is in the gas line of the lemon Mac 1839AV? It is even shown on the manual page, but not identified. From looking at the inside of the tank, they both appear to exit the tank at the top. LOL! - perhaps its "ancient chinese custom"!

I'm not into your flavor of saws, but a second hose is either a return hose for the manual carb primer or a tank vent...

I think so.

If I remember right one line goes straight into the carb and the other runs through the primer bulb then into the carb.

considering what I know, if its routed directly to the carburetor, and theres a hole around 5/8" diameter next to the carburetor in the side of the plastic housing it was for a primer which was removed.
