Hi folks, our City is really screwing up our street with sewer line replacement. The tragic part of it - we have a beautiful, mature tree canopy. Some pin oaks are 36" dbh and over 70 years old. This weekend residents are putting up a lot of signs, including information from calculations at treebenefits.com

I'd like to get input on two signs that we'd like to put up:
"If 30% of more of this tree's roots have been severed, it could be dead with a couple years"
"Severing this tree's roots on one side could cause it to fall over during a windstorm"

The wording has to be understandable by lay folks walking our sidewalks.

Many thanks

I don't get it--if you want to change the work, get the plans changed. Talk to the planners (whose salary is paid by you) and see what they are doing to avoid killing (their?) trees. You'll get nowhere trying to educate the diggers--they must dig accordingt to the plans.

Have you called Forest City Tree company?
