Here Are Some Pic's ...hope They Help

There is a Shagbark hickory next to this oak tree that shows the same fungus problem.


This problem seems to have started after a fire near the base of the trees a couple of years ago. Any hope in limiting this damage?

Are these trees in decline? Looks like canker root fungus.

not much to do; fire killed bark and now it's rotting. Tap bark with hammer to see where it sounds hollow, that's where it is dead.

Call a local arborist for a look.
