From the sound of things the oak trees are having a rough year.
We live in Central Mass in the high country near Mt EWatchusett. Had alot of snow this winter. thought that everything was well hydrated.
Then the dry spell, but we still had ice packs and our oak trees are looking very ill. I'm not sure that it is all due to the lack of rain.
When we looked around the area it seemed to be in bands.
We had a drought two years ago and the tops of the trees got really brown and droopy but not like this.
I did notice sa spore on the trees last year.
Alot more than usual... Did that spore render the tree weak???
I think they need to be studied a bit closer.
