Operations, Training, and Safety Coordinator Wanted, by TCIA Accredited Company, Raleigh, NC

Are you looking for a job where you can have a great impact on people and the arboriculture industry? Are you looking for something outside of the normal production position that offers longevity and professional growth? Are you looking for a challenge? If yes, then you may be interested in the Operations, Training, and Safety Coordinator position available at Leaf & Limb Tree Service.

Leaf & Limb is a TCIA accredited company located in Raleigh, NC (see our website at www.leaflimb.com). We are committed to improving the lives of people and the community through the practice of arboriculture. Our mission statement is as follows: “At Leaf & Limb, we are ultimately in the business of caring for people. Mastering the craft of tree care and tree removal is simply a means to that end.”

In addition, consider the core values we strive to live by:

• Be safe at all times

• Exceed expectations

• Thirst for knowledge

• Share knowledge

• Do the right thing

Leaf & Limb is looking for a highly motivated individual that is dedicated to fulfilling the role of OTSC and helping build a company based on this mission and set of values.

The position of Operations, Training, and Safety Coordinator (OTSC) is a critical piece in the long-term growth of Leaf & Limb. The OTSC currently supervises four full time production crews, a stump grinding operation, and the PHC team, though this number will increase over the coming year and beyond. The OTSC has a myriad of duties including:

• Organizing daily crew assignments and equipment allocations based on the work orders projected by the office staff

• Inventory and asset control

• Implementing the company safety program in accordance with industry standards and within the parameters of regulatory requirements (ANSI Z133.1 and CFR29)

• Overseeing the company training program and developing periodic workshops on specialized topics

• In the field training with tree crews and on the job training with new hires

• Maintaining company training records and the resource database

• Performing crew audits regarding safety practices, training proficiency, and operational procedures

• Managing large projects such as multi-crew tree care operations for high value clients

• Secondary inspection of hazard trees

• Cross coordination between production and sales staff and periodic sales staff development (e.g. training the staff tree biology topics and specific operational procedures as part of professional development)

• Quality control inspections and in-field client interaction

The OTSC must have extensive experience in the field of arboriculture, which includes knowledge or all safety issues, tree biology, ANSI A300 pruning, technical removals, and other facets of general tree work. The safety component is particularly important. The OTSC must also have experience with training, leadership, and organization. All three of these are critical to this role. Character, capability, commitment, and merit are all important facets that will be considered when hiring for this position.

Compensation and benefits are negotiable and will be based on previous experience/potential.

If you are interested in this position you will not complete the normal Leaf & Limb employment application. Instead:

• Submit a formal resume with cover letter to the point of contact below.

• Along with your resume please attach an essay explaining why you desire to fulfill the OSTC position while addressing matters relevant to the duty description. In particular, what makes you our best option for OTSC? How do you fit our culture? What excites you about this position? How will you help us grow?

Ultimately how you answer this essay is your choice. There is not a set format or length for the essay. You may write as little or as much as you please.

All candidates who submit the above materials will receive thorough consideration.

Point of contact for all questions or submissions is Basil Camu at [email protected] (cc:[email protected]).

Thanks for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
