just had to add this... an old timer in my area once told me "tie in twice and it'll save your life" grundmen are necessary on a big opperation like that. whos gonna call 911 if you get hurt? smaller trees are one thing but blocking down a a big tree its always helpful to have somebody else watching out for your safety. i also climb with steelcore when blocking down.

I had my rope with me, split tail tied on. All I would have had to do was toss the rope around the stub, clip on my split tail and climbing line, and zip down..

I never go up without a rope..
