I just came in from the shed where I went digging around to find the "green saw" that's been there for a long time. Turns out it's a Pioneer Farmlite. It's got a chain brake so I'm guessing it's not THAT old.
I remember it ran when I put it in the shed but, it now looks a lot rougher than I remember. The bar is pretty corroded and at first look it appears that the engine is stuck.....however, It could be the bar/chain/clutch are corroded together .
I'm going to start by giving it a good scrubbing and check the chain brake. I may also pull the muffler and look at the piston and cylinder.
At the very least I know it will need an air filter. What is available as far as information on these saws? Any chance of finding parts...like an air filter?
Any and all information is welcome.
I've also posted a copy of this on the "Pioneer Chainsaws" thread
