I am planning to plant some Pecan Trees next spring from this years crop of Pecans. I have a couple of pecan trees that produce the size of pecans that I really like. My question is: if I plant a pecan, will I get the same cultivar of the pecan that I planted.
Thanks

Unfortunately not. There will be genetic variability in your seedlings. No way to tell what kind of nuts you will get. Some of the seedlings may be superior, many not.

Only by cuttings or grafting can you get a true offspring, but these techniques are difficult. If you want to sow seed, chill the nuts you pick at 32* to store. Soak 2 days, then pack in moist sand until they root (~1 month).

Pecans will send a long taproot, so you'll need a deep container.
If it sounds hard to grow these trees, you are right.
