Problem with poplar tree

I have a customer who has a problem with his poplar tree. I was conducting turf maint yesterday and noticed a pile of saw dust at the base of the tree. It was also bleeding. I told the homeowner it might be some kind of bore.

I need to know what type of pest it is before applying any treatment. If anyone has any info please let me know.

Call your local extention agent for possible pests in your area. If the hole is dime sized, look for Longhorned Beetle.
