Project Director, Entrepreneurial Center for Horticulture (ECH)
MSU-Bottineau

Summary of Duties:

This is a full-time, benefited position that reports to the Campus Dean. The Project Director will have overall responsibility for the development and administration of the ECH start up project and will be responsible for assuring the total integration of all aspects of development.

Expectations:

Through technology transfer and other methods, the MSU-Bottineau ECH will play a dynamic role in revitalizing North Dakota communities and rural areas by advancing value added, organic and specialty vegetable production, as follows:

1. Engaging producers and small businesses by promoting an economically viable greenhouse vegetable production industry.
2. Providing a demonstration site for producers and small businesses.
3. Impacting economic development by stimulating the development of local markets and new business ventures.
4. Connecting with key producers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors, and organizations in the industry.
5. Raising sufficient capital from the private sector to be used to match grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Knowledge of organic and specialty vegetable production.
2. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and implement complex programs.
4. Ability to create and monitor budgets.
5. Experience working with producers.
6. Bachelor’s degree.
7. Supervisory experience, leadership ability, and team player.
8. Use/operation of computer hardware and software.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience with the design and evaluation of research programs.
2. Experience developing training curricula.
3. Advanced degree or Bachelor’s degree in related field.
4. Marketing/distribution background.

Salary Range: $45,000-$47,500
