Here's my insert and the thermometer I plan on putting on it. Question is, does this thermometer stand up as it would appear from the flat bottom it has or does it have to lay flat to work? Also, if this one will work OK, as in, is it any good, where should I put it to get the most reliable reading?

Thanks,
Rob

I have this exact thermometer for my insert and it has a magnet on the back and the coil for for it is also on the back. So yes, it does need to lay flat to get an accurate reading. Overall I have been satisfied with this product and has worked well for me for the past 3 years, but I haven't used any other products to compare it with.
