I’ve searched the forums but can’t seem to find an answer. I’m wanting to know if there is a different chain vise that I can retro fit to my 511a. If anyone knows please share. I’ve looked everywhere to no avail. Something like the photo below
Thanks. Adam.

That’s the vise for an Oregon 511AX (or equivalent Tecomec model). ArcherPlus on eBay usually has those: he is a Tecomec importer / distributor.

I believe that they are interchangeable with the 511A vices. They are ‘self-centering’, but some very high users felt that they wore out too fast. There are some threads here on that.

Do you know if the vice off of a Oregon 520-120 would retro fit. It looks like it would by just looking at the picture.

I believe it’s also self centering works kinda like the original but the cam pulls on both sides. That is if it will work in the 511a base plate.

If and when you do find out if that will fit the 511a, I would appreciate a quick post, as I need to upgrade my orig. 511a vise. As most of you know, installing a reverse polarity switch in those grinders [so you can get same rotation for both sides of chain]. Your cbn or alum/ox [pink] wheel does not leave burrs when rotating into the tooth vs. going away...Thanks
